Omigosh!

my friend shared the sweetest moment of her life..

” One day I was at my friend’s house and I told her I had a crush on someone she knew. She started guessing names of who it was, but she never said the right one. Finally, she said that the only other boy she knew was her brother. I sat beside her with a big smile on my face and said”YEAH”. Later we were downstairs an her brother pulled me aside and said, “I heard that you like me and I like you too.” Then he asked me out! How awesome is that?!”

I am so happy for her and my friend’s brother is so kind too so it’s OK to us.

How to say NO

Ever feel like everyone wants something from you? And even though you want to say no, you say yes. You’re afraid you’ll hurt their feelings right? Turns out that when you say yes to stuff just to be nice, you’re actually hurting yourself. All that compromising whittles away your backbone, which you’re going to need when faced with even tougher situations later in life. So stay strong and follow this advices.

You have a right to put your foot down when faced with:

BORROW-HAPPY FRIENDS

They beg to borrow your fave bag or 20 bucks. So you let them.

HOW TO SAY NO:

Your friend still hasn’t paid you back from the last time you lent her cash, and now she’s asking again. When your stuff keeps getting returned with stains or not at all, you feel taken advantage of for your generosity and start resenting your friend. Find the point where you draw the line, so if she crosses it again, you can just let her know. Say” I promised myself I wouldn’t give any more loans until people me back.” If it’s an item, say, ” I know you’d be careful, but I decided not to lend it to anyone, I hope you understand.” She has her limits too, so she totally should.

COERCIVE WORKERS

Someone at work asks you to take her shift, but you need time for yourself.

HOW TO SAY NO:

You don’t want to seem like a lame coworker especially if you’re friends with the people you work with, but if you’d rather do your own thing than clock in, you’re allowed to want that. Just say, ” I can’t cover for you then, but I’d be happy to switch shifts another time I’m free.” That way you’re not locked into a specific day. Don’t apologize or make up a fake event. Your coworker should appreciate your offer and your tactfulness.

CHRONIC NOTE COPIERS

You take the best notes in class and everyone wants to copy them.

HOW TO SAY NO:

You got to class and pay attention, so why do the kids who text all period still get to ace their tests courtesy of you? Because you don’t quite know how to say no without feeling like you’re being a goody-goody or uncool. If it’s a friend who always asking, say, ” The first few times you needed to copy, I was cool with it. But maybe I can show you how to take better ones of your own from now on.”

She’ll either agree or realize she’s being lazy and stop asking. If it’s not a close friend who asks, just decline and say you need the notes for later. Don’t feel like you nee to explain.

Turn people down without letting them down. When turning someone down, use “I” phrases, like “I feel…” or “I think…” so she knows it’s a choice you’re making for yourself but not against her. Never apologize for staying true to what you want.
